Kate Meixner, MD, MAT

AU/UGA Medical Partnership

Dr. Kate Meixner is a family medicine physician and currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the AU/UGA Medical Partnership in Athens, GA. She is also part of the founding faculty opening the UGA School of Medicine. Prior to a career in medicine Dr. Meixner spent time in secondary education teaching in the health sciences in urban Chicago, first through Teach for America then at UIC College Prep. There she helped design an immersive health careers pipeline program for high school students under a partnership with University of Illinois at Chicago. Throughout that time, Dr. Meixner saw how health disparities impact educational outcomes, propelling her drive to become a physician serving youth and families. Dr. Meixner received her medical degree at her alma mater the University of Michigan and remained in Ann Arbor to complete her residency in the Department of Family Medicine at University of Michigan. After residency, Dr. Meixner joined the faculty at U of M, before relocating to Athens in 2022. Here, she has been supporting the growth and development of Clarke Middle Health Center since it opened, under the umbrella of Athens Free Clinic and serves as Assistant Director of the Community and Population Health curriculum for preclerkship medical students in Athens.
